A Missouri man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing his son on Christmas Eve.

Harold E. Luster, 61, of High Ridge, has been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action following a fatal shooting at his residence.

Investigators believe that Luster and his son, 26-year-old Kevin M. Ward of St. Louis, were involved in a disagreement when Luster retrieved a firearm and threatened another person before shooting Ward.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Detective Jason Perkins, Luster became upset with Ward’s fiancée, accusing her of withholding information about Ward’s mother allegedly cheating on him. Luster allegedly threatened the woman, saying, “Do you wanna get shot?”

Ward’s fiancée witnessed the shooting and reported that Ward attempted to de-escalate the situation, telling Luster, “You’re not going to shoot her.” Luster allegedly responded, “You wanna get shot instead?” before shooting Ward.

Video surveillance from a neighboring residence appears to corroborate the witness’s account.

Luster is currently being held without bond at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
