Deputy Accused of Falsifying Timesheets and Lying During Investigation
MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy has been arrested on felony charges following an internal investigation into false statements and record entries.
Detention Deputy Anthony Paniagua was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office on Friday, facing charges of felony official misconduct and felony perjury.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Paniagua is alleged to have made false entries in official records pertaining to his timesheet. These false entries were later compounded by false statements made during an official Internal Affairs investigation when he was questioned about the discrepancies.
Paniagua, who was hired on January 26, 2015, has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending a pre-termination hearing.
Sheriff Rick Ramsay addressed the incident, stating, “I will continue to keep the public informed of every important event that happens at the Sheriff’s Office — both positive and negative.”
