MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was arrested early Wednesday morning in Key West following an altercation that involved a knife, punches, and threats. Deputy Nicholas Joseph Galbo, 42, faces charges of felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor battery after an incident on Simonton Street.
According to the Key West Police Department, the events unfolded around 1:00 a.m. when Galbo was observed arguing with a woman.

The situation escalated when Galbo reportedly grabbed the female victim. A couple who attempted to intervene were then met with aggression; Galbo allegedly punched the intervening male and brandished a knife, threatening the couple.
Authorities noted that Galbo had been drinking at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported.

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay swiftly addressed the arrest, stating, “I have notified Deputy Galbo that I intend to terminate his employment pending a pre-termination hearing. I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency, good and bad.”
Deputy Galbo was hired by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office on January 7, 2020.
