POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A search by Polk County deputies turned up a wanted man in the early hours of January 2, locating him sitting in his vehicle on a residential street.
Raymond Straughan, 44, was taken into custody at approximately 2:07 a.m. Deputies initiated the search after learning Straughan, who held an active warrant out of Monroe County, had known connections to the Eagle Lake area.
They combed the neighborhood and discovered his vehicle parked on 8th Street North with Straughan in the driver’s seat.

The Monroe County warrant carries a significant bond set at $200,000. It charges Straughan with Violation of Probation regarding a DUI case with prior convictions, as well as refusal to sign a citation.
Following the stop, he was transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center. The arrest occurred without incident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Straughan has a prior history in Polk County that includes charges for burglary with assault, aggravated assault, and driving while license suspended or revoked.
