ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 66-year-old woman died Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and 66th Street North. St. Petersburg police report that the incident occurred just after 10 a.m.
Investigators identified the woman as Joanne Greehan. According to authorities, Greehan was behind the wheel of a gray Nissan Sentra, traveling northbound on 66th Street North. The crash happened when she attempted a left turn onto 38th Avenue North, moving directly into the path of an oncoming red Ford F-150 pickup truck heading southbound.
The impact’s force pushed the Nissan off the asphalt and into a utility pole. First responders rushed Greehan to HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital, but medical staff were unable to save her.

The man driving the Ford F-150 suffered only minor injuries. He stayed at the intersection to speak with police and is reportedly cooperating fully with the crash investigation.
Traffic homicide officers spent over an hour processing the scene, forcing a closure of the intersection while they gathered evidence. The road has since been reopened to normal traffic, and the investigation into the specific circumstances of the collision remains active.
