Morning Lakeland Drive Turns Fatal After F-150 Slams Into Tree On Ariana Street

LAKELAND, Fla. — A Thursday morning drive ended in tragedy after a pickup truck veered off a Lakeland roadway and struck a tree, leaving the driver dead.

At approximately 9:08 a.m. on May 14, 2026, Lakeland Police officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle wreck at 1250 Ariana Street. Investigators say a white Ford F-150 was heading westbound when, for reasons still being determined, it drifted across the eastbound lanes and into a parking lot.

The truck continued off the pavement until it collided with a tree.

Emergency responders from the Lakeland Police Department, Lakeland Fire Department, and Polk County Fire Rescue arrived quickly to perform life-saving measures.

The driver, who was the only person in the truck, was rushed to Lakeland Regional Health. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, the individual was pronounced deceased.

The Traffic Homicide Unit has taken over the lead on the case, resulting in the closure of the eastbound lane for about thirty minutes while investigators processed the scene.

Police are still looking into what caused the driver to lose control. The investigation remains active, and authorities are asking anyone who might have seen the crash to reach out.

“If anyone has additional information regarding the crash, please contact investigating Officer Travis Payne at Travis.payne@lakelandgov.net,” the department stated in a release.
