LARGO, Fla. – The Largo Police Department is currently investigating a murder-suicide at Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park.
According to police, on Monday, Largo Police Department received a call for service at Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park at 3:18 pm in reference to the death of two individuals.
During the course of the investigation, it was learned that in the early morning hours of December 19, 2022, 46-year-old Ricardo Ortiz Gomez shot and killed his girlfriend, 30-year-old Sharry Colon, in bed while she was sleeping.
Ortiz Gomez then committed suicide, according to police.

A family member later located the couple in the home and contacted law enforcement.
Ortiz Gomez and Colon were described as having a tumultuous relationship, police say, and according to friends and family, Colon was planning on leaving Ortiz Gomez.
“This is still an active investigation, and no further details are available,” said LPD.
Police say this is an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
