HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – A month-long investigation by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) culminated in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a significant cache of drugs, cash, and a stolen firearm.
The HCSO’s District 4 Street Crimes Unit and the Gang Unit concluded their collaborative effort on October 21, 2025, by executing a court-authorized search warrant at a residence on the 200 block of West College Avenue in Ruskin.
Contraband Seized
During the search, deputies recovered a substantial amount of contraband, including:
- 59 grams of cocaine
- Alprazolam (a prescription sedative)
- Cannabis and cannabis sativa resin
- Miscellaneous drug paraphernalia
- A quantity of 9mm and .40 caliber ammunition
- A stolen Smith & Wesson handgun from Hillsborough County
- $5,460 in U.S. currency
Arrests Made
Two men were taken into custody as a result of the operation:
- Carlos Medina Rivera, 42, was identified as a 7-time convicted felon.
- Desi Castell, 18.
The HCSO stated that the successful operation “makes certain that those who endanger others, along with illegal drugs and firearms, are taken off our streets.”
