President Donald J. Trump has officially proclaimed today, October 14, 2025, a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk, honoring the conservative activist and founder who was tragically assassinated one month ago. The day of remembrance coincides with what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday.
The proclamation, issued by the President, recounts the “pure evil” that struck on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, when Kirk was assassinated in “broad daylight in a campus courtyard.” The event, which triggered a “groundswell of righteous fury,” has been described by the administration as a devastating example of political violence.
A Martyr for American Ideals
The President’s address elevated the memory of Charlie Kirk, remembering him as “a father, a husband, a Christian martyr, and a titan of the American conservative movement.” The White House highlighted Kirk’s commitment to “defending the truth, encouraging debate, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
“He was gracious and articulate beyond measure, always welcomed opposing perspectives, and never deviated from his noble goal of bridging our political, cultural, and philosophical divides,” the proclamation stated. This sentiment underscores the administration’s depiction of Kirk as a figure who championed open dialogue despite rising tensions.
A Call to End Political Violence
In the wake of the tragedy, President Trump pledged that his administration would “continue to do everything in its power to end this devastating wave of political violence.” He lamented the current climate where “open debate is met with gunfire, the pursuit of truth is met with bloodshed, and love of country is met with seething hatred.”
The President charged the nation to continue Kirk’s mission, urging Americans to give “voice to our cherished American ideals with confidence and clarity,” and not to “flinch in the face of darkness and hostility.”
The proclamation concluded with a call for national prayer and remembrance. The President asked the American people to assemble in their respective places of worship to pay homage to Kirk’s memory and to pray for the advancement of peace, truth, and justice across the country.
Charlie Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children. The White House extended its deepest condolences to his family, renewing a pledge to advance the values for which he “laid down his life.”
