POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Two men with a need for speed found themselves behind bars after allegedly engaging in a high-speed race through Mulberry.
62-year-old James Rivera from Lakeland and 30-year-old Alexander Snider from Bartow were arrested on Friday, January 3rd after Polk County Sheriff’s detectives witnessed their Corvettes speeding and weaving through traffic at over 100 mph.

Detectives Durrance and Catello were stopped at the intersection of Church Avenue and Virginia Street when they saw the two Corvettes revving their engines and then taking off at a high rate of speed.
The drivers, Rivera in a silver 2005 Corvette and Snider in a burgundy 2007 Corvette were seen weaving in and out of traffic, attempting to outpace each other.
Traffic stops were conducted on both vehicles and despite denying any racing activity and being uncooperative with the detectives, both men were arrested and charged with racing.

Rivera and Snider were booked into the Polk County Jail.
