Israeli Prime Minister outlines vision for a security perimeter and non-Hamas governance, stating Israel does not want to ‘keep it’
During an interview Thursday with FOX News Channel’s Bill Hemmer, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed Israel’s strategy for the future of the Gaza Strip. The conversation, which is part of a larger interview set to air this afternoon, provided early insight into the Israeli government’s post-conflict goals.
When asked by Hemmer if Israel would take control of all of Gaza, Netanyahu clarified the nation’s intentions.
He stated that the objective is to “assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza and to pass it to civilian governance that is not Hamas and not anyone advocating the destruction of Israel.” Netanyahu emphasized that Israel does not want to govern the territory.

“We don’t want to keep it,” Netanyahu said, “We want to have a security perimeter. We don’t want to govern it… We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and giving Gazans a good life.”
The Prime Minister characterized Hamas as “neo-Nazi” and “monsters,” citing their actions against Israelis and their alleged cruelty toward the Palestinian people. He claimed that Hamas “shoot” Palestinians attempting to leave combat zones and seek “civilian casualties.”
Netanyahu also expressed a desire to “liberate” both Israelis and Palestinians from what he called the “awful terror of Hamas.”
