  2. Election Legitimacy: Among GOP voters, 71% do not consider Joe Biden the “legitimate” winner of the 2020 election.
  3. Perceptions of the U.S. Political System: 64% describe the U.S. political system as “dysfunctional,” and 58% see it as “corrupt.”
  4. Trump’s Popularity: Despite four indictments against Trump, 62% of likely Republican primary voters plan to support him, while 16% support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
  5. Views on Indictments: 38% believe the indictments against Trump are “politically motivated,” while 37% think Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election.
  6. Trust in Trump: Among Trump supporters, 71% believe what Trump tells them is “generally true,” ranking higher than trust in family, friends, media figures, and religious leaders.
  7. Reasons for Supporting Trump: Supporters cite reasons such as the belief that things were better under Trump (99%), he fights for people like them (95%), and they know him better than other candidates (76%).
  8. Trump’s Debate Participation: Despite Trump’s decision to skip the first GOP presidential primary debate, 73% of Republican voters believe he should participate.
  9. Primary Debate Focus: 91% of likely Republican primary voters believe candidates should focus on making their own case rather than highlighting Trump’s shortcomings.
  10. Key Issues for Republican Voters: Top issues for likely Republican primary voters include lower inflation (86%), reducing violent crime (83%), stopping illegal immigration (81%), cutting federal spending (74%), standing up to China (73%), stopping “woke” ideas in schools (71%), and lowering taxes (67%).
  11. Electoral Prospects: Likely Republican primary voters see Trump as having a 91% chance of defeating Biden in the 2024 election, compared to DeSantis at 82%.
  12. Preference for Trump-like Candidates: If Trump is not the candidate, 72% of likely Republican primary voters prefer a candidate very similar or somewhat similar to Trump.
