Zion Wood, a young boy from Mahwah living with severe autism, recently experienced a dream trip to the Central Florida theme parks, thanks to the Sunshine Foundation.
The Sunshine Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with chronic illnesses and conditions, made Zion’s “Magical Dream” a reality. The trip, made possible through generous donations, allowed Zion and his family to visit Walt Disney World and create lasting memories.
“Zion had an amazing time!” said Zion’s mother. “We are so thankful that we were able to take Zion to Walt Disney World! It wouldn’t have been possible without the Sunshine Foundation and sponsors! It was such a perfect week, and it was nice for once not to have to worry about therapy appointments and hectic schedules.”

The Sunshine Foundation focuses on children with lifelong conditions like spina bifida, cerebral palsy, severe autism, Down syndrome, and others, who may not qualify for wishes from other organizations that require a life-threatening diagnosis.
The foundation relies on donations to fulfill these dreams. Zion’s trip was supported by the Sunshine Foundation’s All-Volunteer Joan Jake Memorial Chapter’s Spring Basket Raffle.
Since 1976, the Sunshine Foundation has brought joy to over 43,000 children across the United States. In addition to “Magical Dreams” like Zion’s, the foundation also grants “Special Dreams,” such as shopping sprees, adaptive equipment, and family trips.
