An investigation into a violent incident on November 1, 2025, has led to the arrest of a Brick Township woman, Marlene Rodriguez, 20, who has been charged with Attempted Murder and other offenses for allegedly stabbing her two-year-old brother, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. on November 1st, when Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to a 911 call at a residence on Burke Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered a two-year-old male child suffering from a stab wound to his chest.
The young victim was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
A swift and collaborative investigation involving the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, identified Marlene Rodriguez, the victim’s sister, as the individual responsible for the stabbing.
Rodriguez was subsequently taken into custody at Brick Township Police Headquarters. She faces numerous serious charges, including:
- Attempted Murder
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Following her arrest, Rodriguez was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she is being held pending a mandatory detention hearing.
Prosecutor Billhimer commended the coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, recognizing their “collective efforts in connection with this investigation.” The investigation is ongoing.
