TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – A New Port Richey man was fatally struck by two vehicles late Monday evening after running across the northbound lanes of US Highway 19, just north of Tarpon Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:07 p.m. on September 30, 2025, when officers from the Tarpon Springs Police Department (TSPD) responded to reports of a vehicle accident at the busy intersection. Upon arrival, police located an adult male deceased in the northbound lanes.

The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old Brandon Posey of New Port Richey.

According to the ongoing investigation, police determined that Posey had exited a vehicle in the southbound lanes of US 19 and proceeded to run east across the street, entering the northbound traffic. Authorities noted that Posey did not appear to be in a crosswalk and that northbound US 19 had a green light at the time.

Posey was first struck by a black BMW traveling northbound, which knocked him to the ground. He was then subsequently run over by a grey Ford SUV.

The drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash are cooperating fully with the investigation, and impairment has been ruled out as a factor for either driver.

As the investigation continues, all northbound traffic from Tarpon Avenue is being diverted, and police are advising the public to avoid the intersection.

The TSPD is urging anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash, or who may have witnessed it or captured it on a dashcam, to contact Lead Traffic Homicide Investigator L. Palmer at 727-938-2849.
