New Port Richey Woman Dies After Running Stop Sign While Riding A Bike

A 79-year-old New Port Richey woman was killed in a crash that happened around 9:25 am on Tuesday.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 79-year-old New Port Richey woman was killed in a crash that happened around 9:25 am on Tuesday.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a van, driven by a 42-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling southbound on SR-589 (Veterans Expressway) and exited for Ridge Road at Exit 25.

The New Port Richey, on a bicycle, was traveling down the ramp to merge right to westbound Ridge Road and failed to stop at the posted stop sign on the trail.

Troopers say the woman entered the path of the van which collided with the woman.

The bicyclist was transported to an area hospital but later died from injuries suffered in the crash.
