A Cheektowaga man is behind bars without bail today after a horrific Monday afternoon crime spree that left four people dead, including his own wife and two toddlers.
Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced that 29-year-old Saleh Q. Mohamed was arraigned late Tuesday night before Cheektowaga Town Court Justice John J. Wanat. Mohamed faces one count of Murder in the First Degree and three counts of Murder in the Second Degree for the deaths of his family.
The tragic sequence of events began on Monday, June 1, 2026. According to investigators, Buffalo Police officers first responded to a shooting at a retail store on the 1000 block of Grant Street, near Military Road, at around 2:30 p.m. Inside, authorities found a 43-year-old male store clerk who died at the scene. This afternoon, Buffalo City Court Judge Erin Hart arraigned Mohamed on one count of Murder in the Second Degree for that slaying.
Just one hour after the store shooting, the violence hit closer to home. At approximately 3:30 p.m., Cheektowaga Police officers responded to a home on Ellen Drive. Inside, officers discovered the bodies of a 26-year-old female, a 4-year-old boy, and a 3-year-old boy. Prosecutors allege that Mohamed intentionally took the lives of his wife and two young children.
If convicted of the highest count, Mohamed faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Authorities noted that additional charges may still be filed as the investigation unfolds.
DA Keane commended both the Cheektowaga Police Department and the Buffalo Police Department for their swift coordination and teamwork in these ongoing investigations.
Mohamed was remanded to custody and is scheduled to return to both Cheektowaga Town Court and Buffalo City Court for felony hearings Friday morning, June 5, 2026.
