NewsNation is making a major play for the 10 p.m. hour starting Monday, handing the reins to veteran political commentator Katie Pavlich for a new nightly program.

The network isn’t waiting long to make waves with Katie Pavlich Tonight. While Monday’s debut features an interview with Nick Shirley, the show’s second night is set to capture national attention. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, Pavlich heads to the White House for a primetime exclusive sit-down with President Donald Trump.

The interview takes place in the Roosevelt Room and marks exactly one year since the president took the oath of office for his second term.

According to NewsNation, this is the network’s second formal interview with Trump. It is also familiar territory for the host; Pavlich previously interviewed Trump at the White House in 2020 and spent years covering the administration as a member of the press pool.

“Straightforward” Analysis

Sean Compton, president of Nexstar Networks, positioned the launch as a move toward clarity in a crowded media landscape.

“We’re pleased to give our primetime viewers an additional hour of political news and analysis that helps them make sense of the day’s most important headlines,” Compton said, noting that the network aims to present “diverse viewpoints and original ideas.”

Pavlich, who says she wants to offer a “front row seat to history,” plans to focus the hour on free speech, immigration, national security, and foreign policy.

“I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective on the news to Americans across the country,” Pavlich said.

From the Grand Canyon to the Beltway

While Pavlich has become a fixture in Washington—she currently lives in D.C. with her husband and their yellow lab, Gadsden—her roots are in the American West.

A native of Phoenix and University of Arizona graduate, Pavlich grew up in the mountains of northern Arizona. She spent much of her childhood rafting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon and hunting with her father, a background that often informs her perspective on Second Amendment issues and land use.

Her media resume is extensive. Before joining NewsNation, she spent 13 years at Fox News Channel, serving as a rotating co-host on The Five and Outnumbered, and frequently guest-hosted for Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity. She also served as news editor for Townhall.com.

Beyond the news desk, Pavlich has occasionally stepped into entertainment, logging a cameo in Amazon Prime’s The Terminal List alongside Chris Pratt and hosting Luxury Hunting Lodges of America on Fox Nation.

She is the author of two New York Times bestsellers, Fast and Furious and Assault & Flattery, and serves on the board of the National Journalism Center.

Katie Pavlich Tonight airs weeknights at 10 p.m. ET.
