The “Queen of Rap” isn’t holding back when it comes to her thoughts on California’s leadership. During a Tuesday appearance on the “Katie Miller Pod,” Nicki Minaj delivered a blistering critique of Governor Gavin Newsom, moving past simple policy disagreements to question his character, his obsession with social media, and his political future.

When host Katie Miller pressed the rapper on what specifically fueled her “disgust” with Newsom—citing issues ranging from illegal immigration to his stance on transgender ideology in schools—Minaj pinpointed a lack of focus and “loyalty” as her primary grievances. While Minaj clarified that she supports the rights of adults to transition, she drew a firm line at children doing the same, a topic she has previously mocked on social media.

However, much of her ire focused on Newsom’s public persona. Minaj accused the Governor of being more interested in playing the “Twitter game” than running the state. She slammed him for trying to mimic Donald Trump’s combative online style, calling it a “huge failure” that is only funny to his own inner circle.

“You are competing with President Trump, but President Trump is already the president,” Minaj said, noting that Trump’s track record of winning makes Newsom’s attempts to “roll around in the mud” with celebrities look desperate.

The rapper’s frustration is also personal. She revealed that she previously reached out to the Governor on X for assistance regarding “swatting” calls—a dangerous prank where police are sent to a person’s home under false pretenses. According to Minaj, Newsom ignored her pleas for help while simultaneously finding time to weigh in on rap industry drama.

“Next thing you know, he’s on there flapping his gums about female rap stuff and trying to get in women’s business,” Minaj said. “I had to show him who’s boss.”

Minaj also took aim at Newsom’s recent appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. She argued that his decision to criticize the United States and a former president while on foreign soil was a “foolish” move that would alienate American voters who prize loyalty.

The Governor’s team didn’t take the comments lying down, though they kept their rebuttal short and pointed. In a statement to the Daily Caller News Foundation, Newsom’s press office responded with a jab at the rapper’s personal life: “We wish Ms. Minaj, her husband, and his parole officer well.”
