Nighttime Ramp Closures Scheduled For Northbound I-275 Exit 39 In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. — Drivers traveling through Tampa should prepare for overnight detours next week as roadwork forces multiple ramp closures along northbound Interstate 275 at Exit 39.

The nightly closures are scheduled to run from Sunday, August 16, through Thursday, August 20, weather permitting.

The work begins Sunday night with the shutdown of the northbound Exit 39 ramp leading to Kennedy Boulevard and eastbound State Road 60. That ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Sunday, August 16; Monday, August 17; and Thursday, August 20.

Motorists heading toward Kennedy Boulevard during those hours will need to stay on northbound I-275, exit at Lois Avenue, head south on Lois, and turn west onto Kennedy Boulevard.

Midweek work will impact travelers heading toward the airport. The temporary northbound exit leading to westbound S.R. 60, northbound State Road 589, and Tampa International Airport will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19, while crews put up new roadway signage.

During the Tuesday and Wednesday closures, drivers bound for S.R. 60 West, S.R. 589 North, or the airport will be directed to take the Kennedy Boulevard/S.R. 60 East exit and follow the posted detour signs.

Transportation officials advise motorists to add extra travel time to their trips, watch for changing road conditions, and follow all detour markers. Drivers are also urged to stay alert and avoid distractions while traveling through the work zone.
