Two St. Augustine residents face mandatory court dates after a marine deputy caught them with nearly a dozen undersized lobsters in the Lower Keys on Wednesday evening.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Marine Deputy Luis Guiardinu was on patrol around 6 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Sunshine Key Resort when he spotted two people handling illegal catch.
An inspection revealed that Michael Joseph Serra, 44, and Chant’e Engram, 46, were both in possession of lobsters that fell below the legal size limit. Serra had three undersized lobsters, while Engram had six in her possession, authorities said.
Deputy Guiardinu issued mandatory notice-to-appear citations to both Serra and Engram.
