No Jail Time For Florida Woman After Father Found ‘Decaying’ In Recliner For Months

A Florida woman has been sentenced to probation after pleading no contest to neglecting her elderly father, who was found with serious, untreated wounds.

Pamela Reynolds, 55, entered the no-contest plea on Monday to one count of neglect of an elderly or disabled adult, one year after her arrest. She was sentenced to three years of probation and will serve no jail time.

According to police records, Reynolds served as her father’s caregiver and lived with him in her home. On July 31, 2025, Reynolds called 911 after noticing her father had a “high heart rate.”

Emergency responders transported the man to the hospital, where medical staff treated him for extensive injuries.

Personnel reported finding a “necrotic” wound on his right hip that was infested with “maggots and feces,” along with another wound “the size of a softball with black and yellow tissue, pus, and fluids coming out.”

Responding officers noted an odor of “decaying flesh” coming from the victim, who was “unable to move himself.” After being treated, cleaned, and admitted to the intensive care unit, the father told investigators that “he had been lying in the chair for several months.”

During her interview with detectives, Reynolds cried and maintained that “she did not see or was not aware” of her father’s injuries, stating she bathed him regularly. Reynolds told police she had not taken him to a doctor since January 2025 and had not moved him from the recliner since early June 2025 “because of transportation issues.”

Reynolds entered her plea on Monday, concluding the criminal case with a three-year probation sentence.
