North Boulevard Commuters Face Monday Delays As Water Department Moves In

TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers heading through the Wellswood area today should prepare for a bit of a slowdown on North Boulevard. Starting at 9:00 AM this morning, May 4, crews from the Tampa Water Department officially moved into the stretch between West Virginia Avenue and West Orient Street to begin maintenance on the city’s water distribution system.

The work has forced the closure of the outside northbound lane. To keep traffic moving and ensure the safety of the workers on-site, the city has deployed flaggers and set up barricades to guide vehicles through the narrowed corridor.

City officials are urging motorists to stay alert and exercise extra caution while passing through the work zone. For those looking to avoid a potential bottleneck, seeking out an alternate route for the morning and afternoon commute is highly recommended.

The department also noted that the current setup could change if the repairs require further lane modifications.

If the weather stays clear and everything goes according to plan, the Tampa Water Department expects to wrap up the project and have all lanes back open by 4:00 PM today.
