A North Carolina man is in a Florida jail after someone noticed his unusual behavior and contacted law enforcement.
According to deputies, 31-year-old Isaiah Simpson, of Raliegh, North Carolina, had an active fugitive warrant for his arrest after he made threats against the Moore County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina in December of 2021.
Flagler County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the European Village in Palm Coast on November 8th after a caller said they saw a suspicious male behind the businesses walking along the tree line and burning unknown items.
When FCSO Deputies arrived, they located Simpson standing along the wood line with a half-melted candle in his pants pocket.
Simpson told the deputies that he was engaging in a “black magic” ritual utilizing the candle.
After confirming Simpson’s identity, Deputies attempted to place Simpson under arrest for his North Carolina fugitive warrant. While attempting to place him in cuffs, Simpson resisted arrest.
Simpson was arrested for resisting an officer without violence and being a fugitive from justice. He was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility.
Simpson is being held with no bond while awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
“Thanks to the vigilance of a citizen and our ‘see something, say something’ initiative this fugitive will now face the consequences of threatening law enforcement after being on the run for a year,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Another fugitive chose the wrong county to visit and is now in the Green Roof Inn waiting for his ride back to North Carolina. Remember, if you see something, say something!”
