A 72-year-old North Carolina man has been arrested after allegedly shooting at the home and car of a local Walmart manager in what authorities say was “retaliation” for his girlfriend being fired from the store.
Larry Keaton Brown was taken into custody this week and faces multiple felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and eight counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied property.
According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, deputies first responded to a shooting on Oct. 10 in Rural Hall where a residence was hit by multiple shots.

Investigators soon linked the incident to a separate shooting that same evening at a Walmart in King, where a store manager’s unoccupied car was struck repeatedly. Both agencies determined the shootings were suspected to be in retaliation for the suspect’s girlfriend being fired.
Brown was apprehended during a traffic stop where he allegedly attempted to reach for a handgun.
“We are proud of our detectives’ diligence using the latest technology to connect these crimes and bring a swift arrest. By combining resources and collaborating with multiple agencies, we have proven that crime has no jurisdiction. We thank the King Police Department and the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office for sharing our vision to always strive to foster a safe community,” said Chief Henry C. Gray Jr., Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office
Brown was also previously arrested this month on charges including possession of a weapon of mass destruction after explosive devices were reportedly found in his home. Brown is currently being held without bond in the Stokes County Detention Center.
