Two North Carolina men have been sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a series of armed robberies targeting sweepstakes businesses and other establishments.
Brandon Drelle Wall, 35, of Wadesboro, and William Chavis Dunlap Jr., 29, of Morven, pleaded guilty in August 2024 to robbing two sweepstakes businesses in 2022 – one in Winston-Salem and another in Liberty. During the robberies, the men wore masks and brandished firearms to threaten employees and customers.

In the Liberty robbery, they forced patrons to the floor at gunpoint and stole over $8,650. In Winston-Salem, they made off with a phone, wallet, $1,400, and two firearms.
Following their arrests, Wall and Dunlap admitted to additional robberies in Richmond County and Anson County, respectively.
Wall was sentenced to 138 months for the robberies and an additional 84 months for the firearms charges, resulting in a total of over 18 years in federal prison. Dunlap received a slightly lesser sentence of 110 months for the robberies and 84 months for the firearms charges, totaling over 16 years. Both men will also serve five years of supervised release after completing their prison terms.
In addition to prison time, Wall and Dunlap were ordered to pay restitution to the victims and forfeit their interests in seven firearms, along with ammunition and magazines.

This case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaborative efforts between law enforcement and communities.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Liberty Police Department, Winston-Salem Police Department, Anson County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Wadesboro Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
