A large weekend party just outside of Maxton, North Carolina, turned into a scene of tragedy early Saturday morning when a shooting left two individuals confirmed deceased and eleven others wounded, several critically.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of multiple agencies, is actively investigating the incident that occurred at a gathering on Dixon Drive. According to Sheriff Burnis Wilkins, a total of 13 people were shot.
Authorities believe the incident was isolated, posing “no current threat to the community.” However, the investigation is complicated by the immediate aftermath: more than 150 people reportedly fled the location before law enforcement arrived.
