North Tampa Church Hosts Its 22nd Holiday Bazaar

FOREST HILLS, FL. -Three volunteer groups from the Forest Hills Presbyterian Church have come together to create unique home decorating items for the 22nd annual Holiday Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event, open to the public free of charge, will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at 709 W. Linebaugh Ave.  It will feature hundreds of crafts for holiday decorations and gifts; restored and repurposed furniture; plants and garden accessories; scarecrows for yards; collectibles including antiques and China pieces; as well as jewelry, books, and games.

“We have three groups – crafters, furniture refinishers, and a garden group – that work for months creating the items,” said Jennifer Gregory, the church’s craft coordinator.  “There is a lot of cooperation between the groups with items created by one group, painted by another, and plants grown by the third.”

Almost all the handmade items, including wreaths, centerpieces, pillows, yard displays, and wall hangings, are created from donations by church members and the community.

“We have people, who aren’t members of the church but come every year to the bazaar. Then they come back with donations of supplies and items to help us,” Gregory said, adding the antiques and collectibles also come from donations.

The event also will feature a Tasty Treats section of homemade items ready to eat and barbecue dinners will be available for takeout.

Gregory said merchandise will be displayed inside the Larrick Fellowship Hall.  And if weather permitting, shopping will be outside in the shady areas of the large campus. Masks are required in the hall.

Funds raised through the bazaar are returned to the community with grants to local non-profit organizations, said pastor Claudia Henderson.

“We also present to some local groups for their mission work in other countries,” Henderson said.
