U.S. chip giant Nvidia has secured a major deal to supply more than 260,000 of its most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips to key South Korean entities, including the government and industrial powerhouses Samsung, LG, and Hyundai.

The massive deployment of these cutting-edge chips signals a significant step in the nation’s push to integrate AI into its core industries. The chips are slated to be used across factories to enhance the production of high-tech goods, ranging from semiconductors and robots to autonomous vehicles.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang lauded the agreement, stating that it means South Korea can “now produce intelligence as a new export.”

This suggests the deal will enable South Korea to not only modernize its manufacturing base but also to generate intellectual property and advanced AI capabilities that can be exported globally. Mr. Huang did not disclose the financial value of the extensive South Korean contracts.

The deal caps off an exceptionally busy and successful week for Nvidia. On Wednesday, the company made history by becoming the first company to reach a $5 trillion valuation. The momentum continued on Thursday with promising signs of a potential thaw in U.S.-China trade relations, which could open the door for Nvidia to export more of its chips to China, further expanding its market dominance.

This South Korea deal solidifies Nvidia’s position as the leading supplier of the critical hardware powering the global AI revolution, embedding its technology into the foundational manufacturing and future technology sectors of one of Asia’s most important industrial economies.
