BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore Police Department is currently investigating an active shooter situation that unfolded earlier today in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue. During the exchange of gunfire, two police officers and a suspect were shot.
Emergency responders immediately transported the wounded officers to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment. The suspect was also struck by gunfire, though their current condition and the specific circumstances leading up to the shooting have not yet been released.
Authorities have cordoned off the residential area and are urging the public to avoid the surrounding neighborhood as the investigation continues.
“BPD is on scene of an Active Shooter Incident in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue,” the department stated in an official alert.
Police have not yet confirmed if there are any other victims or if the threat has been fully neutralized. Officials stated that more information will be provided as it becomes available.
