A 27-year-old mother of two was fatally stabbed last Tuesday afternoon while working her shift as a waitress at a Skyline Chili restaurant in Cincinnati, Ohio, leading to the arrest of her ex-boyfriend on murder charges.
The incident occurred on June 2 when Rick Wright, 37, allegedly entered the restaurant and stabbed Alyssa Hill in the back. The attack was witnessed by multiple individuals inside the establishment, prompting six people to call 911.
According to emergency dispatch records, one caller stated, “A customer just came in and stabbed one of our waitresses in the back.” Hill was rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Wright was arrested shortly after the incident and officially charged with murder. At his initial court appearance on June 3, a judge ordered Wright to be held without bond ahead of his detention hearing on June 5.
Court documents indicate that Wright was already wanted by law enforcement at the time of the stabbing. A warrant had been issued for his arrest following a probation violation tied to a February 2025 assault charge. Sarah McMahon of the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office stated that Wright’s prior criminal history includes convictions for assault, menacing, robbery, drug trafficking, and carrying a concealed weapon.
Hill was a single mother who served as the primary breadwinner for her two children while also operating as the primary caretaker for her father. Family and friends noted that she worked seven days a week and was actively trying to save money to purchase a vehicle to transport her father to medical appointments.
A GoFundMe page was established following her death to provide financial support for her children.
“The loss has been heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved her,” her friend Kayla Elliot said. “Her children and family meant everything to her, and the love she had for them was obvious in everything she did.”
