An Ohio woman is facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter, following a fatal incident last week that began with a minor traffic accident in a Kroger parking lot.
Danielle Henry, 34, Columbus, was arrested Saturday in connection with the death of Ibrahim Diakite. Court documents detail a tragic escalation after Henry and Diakite collided Wednesday morning at a Kroger store in Westerville.
Pursuit Leads to Fatal Struggle
According to investigators, after the initial crash, Henry allegedly fled the scene. Diakite pursued her, eventually following her vehicle onto Schrock Road. The situation turned deadly when Diakite reportedly stopped his vehicle in front of Henry’s car and climbed onto the hood in an apparent attempt to stop her from leaving.
Reports indicate that Henry then accelerated her car to approximately 45 mph with Diakite on the hood. She allegedly dragged him for a distance estimated between 300 to 600 feet before he fell off and was subsequently run over.
Diakite was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Charges and Arraignment
Henry was taken into custody on Saturday and is currently being held at the James Carnes Corrections Center in Franklin County. She was scheduled to be formally arraigned on Monday.
The charges against Henry include aggravated vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter, and additional offenses stemming from the deadly encounter.
