An Ohio man has been arrested and charged in federal court after allegedly sending violent death threats to a Florida lawmaker and his family, authorities announced.
Alex Justin Miller, 26, of Columbus, Ohio, faces a federal charge of interstate transmission of a threat to injure, announced U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. If convicted, Miller faces up to five years in federal prison. It was not immediately clear when he was scheduled to appear in court.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the Middle District of Florida, the FBI began investigating Miller after the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office contacted the agency on Aug. 18, 2026. The initial report concerned a threatening email Miller allegedly sent to the lawmaker, identified as “Victim 1” in court documents.
Cincinnati-based WXIX reported that the congressman was Florida Republican Randy Fine.
At the time the email was sent, the lawmaker was attending a meeting in Flagler County, Florida, while his family remained at their residence in Brevard County.
The email was sent at 9:02 a.m. EDT from an account investigators later traced to Miller. The subject line read, “Can’t wait to snipe your head off your shoulders!!:).”
The body of the message read, in part: “Dear fata*s piece of sh*tstain, I cannot wait to take a trip to you lovely home and light the whole place on fire and murder you and your entire family in the middle of the night while you sleep. I hope you disgusting Nazi fu*ks sleep with one eye open for the rest of your life because I will NEVER stop until your head is hanging from the rooftops of the White House. You deserve 10000% to be beheaded and have your body paraded through the streets.” The email concluded: “DEATH TO [VICTIM 1] AND DEATH TO DONALD TRUMP!!!”
Following the report, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office submitted emergency disclosure requests to Google and Charter Communications for subscriber and connection records tied to the Gmail account.
Google records showed the email was linked to a Google Voice telephone number and Google Pay accounts under the name Alex Miller. A subsequent open-source search tied the phone number to Miller’s age and background.
Charter Communications and Google IP login data linked the email activity directly to a service address on Arden Forest Lane in Columbus. Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles records confirmed the same location as Miller’s active driver’s license address.
Additional open-source reviews uncovered Cash App and Venmo accounts under Miller’s name tied to the Gmail address, while a forwarding number for the Google Voice account also traced back to the Arden Forest Lane residence.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the U.S. Capitol Police and the U.S. Secret Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Courtney D. Richardson-Jones is handling the prosecution.
