Republican vice presidential candidate and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance said on Wednesday night that journalists have informed him that Vice President Kamala Harris is not content with her internal polling numbers.

Vance Tucker Carlson’s program states that public election polls are an attempt to convince Republican voters to stay home on Election Day by telling them that Trump is significantly down in support. He said journalists have told him that Harris is not feeling confident about her chances in November due to internal polling.

“I’ve said, look, Kamala’s own internal polls are not very good right now,” Vance said. “And of course, lefties say, ‘Well, J.D. Vance is the VP candidate for Republicans. Nobody in Kamala Harris’ campaign is talking to him.’ That’s right, by the way, Kamala Harris’ campaign is not talking to me, but they are talking to journalists. And then those journalists want insight into what’s going on with the Republican ticket. They want to see our internal numbers.”

“And look, the journalists are telling me that Kamala Harris doesn’t like her numbers. The journalists are telling me our campaign does like their numbers,” Vance continued.

Vance said earlier in the interview that Harris is not performing well in the key swing states she needs to win the election.

“What we’re seeing both when we talk to the journalists who are close to the Kamala Harris campaign, you know how this goes, you give the journalists some information, they give you some information,” Vance said. “And, so our numbers, their numbers, very clearly show that she’s not doing well in the states she needs to win, but a lot can change and we have to get out the vote.”

Republican nominee Donald Trump and Harris are currently neck-and-neck in national polls, with FiveThirtyEight indicating the vice president is leading 48.5% to 45.2% as of Thursday. Trump’s support was dramatically understated in polls in the 2016 and 2020 elections, indicating that support for the former president in polls may not be accurately captured.

A New York Times/Siena College poll released Sept. 8 found Trump leading Harris 48% to 47%. The poll surveyed 1,695 registered voters nationwide with a 2.8% margin of error.
