U.S. Marshals and local task force officers ended a series of manhunts this week, bringing three men wanted for separate violent crimes into custody within a single 24-hour window.
The sweep, led by the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), resulted in the arrests of suspects wanted for stabbing, shooting, and vehicular homicide.
The first major break came Wednesday when investigators tracked 22-year-old Devin Terrell Robinson to a home on the 3900 block of Mount Herman Avenue in Cleveland. Robinson had been on the run since February 13, following a warrant for aggravated murder.
Cleveland Police allege that on February 6, Robinson stabbed 31-year-old Tyrell Small near West 94th Street and Denison Avenue. Despite first responders’ efforts to save Small’s life, he died at the scene from his injuries.
The search of the Mount Herman Avenue residence yielded an unexpected second arrest. While looking for Robinson, officers discovered 28-year-old Joshamee Transou hiding inside. Transou was wanted by the Painesville Police Department in connection to a 2023 shooting. While he was originally sought for felonious assault, his charges were recently upgraded to attempted murder.

The momentum continued into Thursday morning when the Akron Division of the task force caught up with Philip Mayfield, 39. Mayfield was wanted by Akron Police for a March 18 incident where he allegedly used his vehicle to run over a man.
Although Mayfield was first charged with felonious assault, the victim died several days later, prompting authorities to upgrade the charge to homicide. Officers located and arrested Mayfield without incident at a home on the 700 block of Hazel Street.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott credited the rapid succession of arrests to the seamless coordination between local and federal agencies. “Three violent suspects have been arrested in 24 hours by members of our task force,” Elliott said. “These three fugitives caused havoc in our communities and will now face the charges against them, hopefully ensuring justice for each of the victims in their cases.”
The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force continues to seek help from the public to locate other individuals fleeing prosecution. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the NOVFTF at 1-866-4WANTED or submit a tip online.
Tips can be submitted anonymously, and reward money is often available for information that leads to an arrest.
