An Oklahoma inmate who used a smuggled cellphone from behind bars to coerce a 12-year-old South Florida child into producing child sexual abuse material was sentenced Wednesday to life in federal prison.
U.S. District Judge Rodney Smith handed down the sentence to Jeffrey Allen Holden, 45, after the man pleaded guilty to five counts of production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors and three counts of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.
“Even a lengthy prison sentence for rape did not stop Jeffrey Allen Holden from seeking out and sexually exploiting another vulnerable victim,” U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones said. “From his prison cell, he used a contraband phone and a false name to manipulate a 12-year-old child into producing CSAM. His life sentence is a just consequence for conduct that was calculated, predatory, and profoundly cruel.”
Court records show that in October 2024 the mother of a 12-year-old child found sexually explicit messages, voice recordings, photographs and videos between her daughter and someone using the name “Jeremy” on a messaging platform.
The girl first told the man she was 13 before revealing she was actually 12.
After the mother contacted police, investigators examined the child’s phone and found child sexual abuse material exchanged in direct messages. They also determined that Holden had sent the girl explicit photos and videos of himself and had convinced her to create similar content.
Authorities identified Holden from a photograph he had sent the victim. At the time he was locked up at the Howard McLeod Correctional Facility in Oklahoma, serving a 25-year sentence for rape. A search of his cell turned up the contraband cellphone.
The case was investigated by the FBI’s Miami Field Office and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Camille Smith and Vanessa Bonhomme.
