One Man Dead in Plant City Shooting

PLANT CITY, Fla.- The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one man dead in Plant City last night.

On Wednesday, November 25, 2020, deputies responded to South Florida Baptist Hospital, located at 301 N Alexander Street in Plant City, in reference to a shooting. An adult male victim had been transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound. Life-saving measures were performed on the victim, but he later died as a result of his injury.

Through investigative means, detectives later learned that the shooting occurred on the 5000 block of Sydney Road in Plant City. They responded to the incident scene and executed a court-authorized search warrant on the home where the shooting took place earlier in the evening. There, detectives conducted interviews with the occupants of the home.

This remains an active investigation. At this time, it is believed the victim and shooter are known to each other, and there is no threat to the public.

“If you saw or heard anything last night on Sydney Road last night, I’m urging you to please come forward with that information,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “What may seem like a small piece of information could go a long way into solving what happened to this victim last night.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office at (813) 247-8200.
