A 28-year-old victim was shot in the face after a shooting altercation between two groups took place at a Waffle House location.

A 28-year-old victim was shot in the face after a shooting altercation between two groups took place at a Waffle House location.

Early Wednesday morning, around 2:20 a.m., Ocala Police responded to the Waffle House, located at 3871 SW College Road, about a shooting incident that left one 28-year-old shot in the face.

The victim was shot in the cheek, and the injury is not life-threatening, according to police.

Before the shooting, people were gathered outside the restaurant when two groups shot multiple rounds at each other.

The victim was potentially caught in the middle and at this time, is not believed to be an associate of either of the shooting groups.

Bystanders brought the wounded victim to a local hospital. By the time police arrived at the shooting scene, all involved parties had fled the scene.

There are no other reported injuries at this time. Detectives are actively investigating this incident.
