DAVENPORT, Fla. – A traffic stop for reckless driving on Wednesday evening resulted in the arrest of an Orlando man who was found to have a stolen handgun.
According to deputies, the incident occurred at approximately 8:45 pm on Wednesday at the intersection of Lake Wilson Road and Ronald Reagan Parkway in Loughman, just north of Davenport.
A deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) saw the driver of a silver 2005 Yamaha motorcycle accelerate quickly from a stopped position after the traffic light turned green and perform a wheelie.
The deputy initiated a traffic stop for reckless driving. The motorcyclist reportedly looked back at the deputy, executed a U-turn, and accelerated away. The deputy decided to disengage from a pursuit due to safety concerns, but remained in the area.
Approximately ten minutes later, the deputy located the motorcyclist nearby and initiated the arrest.
The driver was identified as Christian Alexander Lasaine-Scarborough, 21, of Orlando.
During the arrest, deputies found Lasaine-Scarborough to have a Glock 19 9mm handgun. A records check confirmed that the firearm had been reported stolen out of Bradenton in 2019.
When questioned by the deputy regarding the origin of the weapon, Lasaine-Scarborough stated he had received it from a family member. He subsequently declined to provide further details, saying he wished to speak with an attorney.
Christian Alexander Lasaine-Scarborough was taken to the Sheriff’s Processing Center and charged with:
- Grand Theft of a Firearm (F3)
- Fleeing to Elude (F3)
- Reckless Driving (M1)
