HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Hillsborough County Mosquito Management Services and the Manatee County Mosquito Control District have expanded tonight’s planned aerial mosquito treatments to include Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights alongside previously announced zones in East Tampa, Brandon, and Seffner.
The overnight spraying runs from 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, through 6 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27. Crews will dispense Dibrom and Fyfanone insecticides by helicopter at an altitude of 150 feet, using an application rate of one ounce per acre to target adult mosquitoes.
Operations will cover two primary corridors:
Seminole Heights and Tampa Heights: Boxed in by Busch Boulevard to the north, the I-4/I-275 junction to the south, North 29th Street to the east, and North Armenia Avenue to the west.
East Tampa and Brandon: Bound by Bessie Dix Road to the north, Bloomingdale Road to the south, Gallagher Road to the east, and U.S. 41 to the west.
Should weather or operational issues interrupt the schedule, county officials have set backup treatment dates for Thursday, Aug. 27, and Friday, Aug. 28.
