TAMPA, Fla. – A man in his early 20s died overnight after being shot during a physical struggle at Emperor’s Gentleman’s Club in Tampa, according to local law enforcement.
Officers with the Tampa Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the club, located at 5718 E. Adamo Drive, shortly before 12:15 a.m. Upon arrival, police found the young man suffering from upper body trauma. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
According to preliminary investigative findings, the man had initially been ejected from one area of the venue. Shortly after, he pushed past club employees and entered a separate section of the establishment that was closed to the public.
A security guard, described as an adult male in his early 60s, confronted the man inside the closed section. Investigators said the two men became involved in a physical fight, during which the subject repeatedly struck the guard. The guard then fired his weapon, striking and killing the man.
The security guard remained at the scene following the shooting and cooperated with responding officers.
Tampa Police Department detectives are continuing to process physical evidence, review security camera footage, and interview witnesses to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
