A Timmonsville, South Carolina, woman is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say she shot her husband during a domestic dispute, despite her relying on a portable oxygen tank.
Florence County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting call on Saturday at the home shared by 75-year-old Josephine Scott and her husband. When deputies arrived, they found Scott’s husband suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs.
He was transported to a local hospital, where medical staff treated him for injuries that authorities confirmed are not life-threatening. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Following an initial investigation, detectives determined that Scott intentionally fired a handgun at her husband twice after the couple got into a verbal argument. The Florence County Sheriff’s Office has not released specific details regarding what the couple was arguing about or what exactly caused the dispute to escalate into violence.
Scott was arrested at the scene and booked into the Florence County Detention Center on Sunday. She faces one count of attempted murder and one count of possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
During her first court appearance on Monday, a judge set Scott’s bond at $50,000 for the attempted murder charge and an additional $5,000 for the weapons charge. According to online court records, Scott posted the total $55,000 bond amount and was subsequently released from jail.
Scott is currently scheduled to make her next appearance in court on October 6.
