Palm Harbor Bicyclist Killed After Collision With Holiday Woman’s Car On US-19

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – A Palm Harbor man operating an electric bicycle was killed early Sunday morning after colliding with a car on U.S. 19, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:25 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 19 and Cypress Drive.

FHP investigators state that a 60-year-old Palm Harbor man was traveling westbound on Cypress Drive on an electric bicycle. At the same time, a Kia Optima, driven by a 36-year-old Holiday woman, was heading northbound on U.S. 19.

The incident report indicates the bicyclist attempted to turn north into the path of the northbound Kia and was subsequently struck by the sedan.

The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Kia was not identified in the report and information regarding any potential injuries to the driver was not released.
