Metro Transit Police took 28-year-old Bryan Betancur into custody late Monday night following a series of recorded incidents involving the harassment of female passengers.

The Silver Spring, Maryland, resident was charged with assault and battery after a livestream captured him touching and pulling a woman’s hair on a train near the Clarendon station in Virginia.

Betancur previously served four months for a misdemeanor conviction related to the January 6 Capitol riot, though he was pardoned by President Trump during the early stages of his second term.

This latest arrest follows the emergence of several videos that appear to show similar behavior directed at multiple women throughout the D.C. Metro system.

Journalist Amanda Moore and other women have frequently flagged Betancur for what they describe as a pattern of stalking, noting prior allegations of threats, fare evasion, and a 2024 violation of an anti-stalking order.

Metro Transit Police are currently investigating whether other riders were targeted and are reviewing digital evidence of the encounters. In a statement, the department confirmed the arrest: “Late last night, our officers located and arrested 28-year-old Bryan Betancur.

Anyone with information about this individual is still encouraged to contact MTPD.” Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any similar interactions to transit officials.
