PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers navigating Pasco County roads should prepare for widespread traffic disruptions in the week following the July 4th holiday. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has scheduled a massive slate of lane closures, flagging operations, and shoulder restrictions starting Sunday, July 5, through Saturday, July 11, 2026.
The construction and maintenance schedule impacts heavily traveled corridors, including US highways, state roads, and crucial access points to the Suncoast Parkway.
Major daylight delays are anticipated along US 41 (Land O’ Lakes Boulevard) at Lake Patience Road, where crews will close lanes daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Similar daytime closures and flagging operations will impact US 98 between CR 54 and Townsend Road from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and SR 39 from Jerry Road to Pattie Road from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., running Monday through Friday.
On County Road 54, drivers traveling between the area west of Flint Drive and US 301 (Gall Boulevard) will encounter lane closures and flagging from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Several high-traffic zones will feature around-the-clock restrictions that remain in place until further notice. On US 301, the southbound right lane from Kingsmere Road to Wire Road is closed continuously. State Road 52 is heavily affected, with the westbound left lane closed 24/7 from east of SR 589 (the Suncoast Parkway) to west of the parkway. Additionally, the eastbound SR 52 left-turn lane onto northbound SR 589 is partially closed at its west end around-the-clock.
Commuters utilizing State Road 54 have a mix of daytime and night-shift closures to navigate. At Altamont Lane, night lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., starting Sunday night and wrapping up Thursday morning. During the day, SR 54 at Henley Road will see lane closures between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Interchange areas along the Suncoast Parkway (SR 589) will experience partial disruptions from Monday, July 6, through Saturday, July 11, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. This includes a partial closure of the right shoulder and merge lane on the SR 54 entrance ramp to SR 589, though full access to the parkway will be maintained.
Drivers exiting southbound SR 589 onto SR 54 will encounter a partial closure of the right-turn lane. Meanwhile, the southbound SR 589 exit ramp to SR 52 will have part or all of its right-turn lane closed. FDOT confirmed that vehicle turns will remain available at both exit ramps during these times.
Finally, recreation traffic faces a long-term hurdle. Access to the Suncoast Trail Trailhead at Touchpoint Drive is completely shut down. This around-the-clock closure is projected to remain in place through the summer of 2027. Local transportation officials advise motorists to plan for extra travel time, expect sudden stops in flagging zones, or seek alternative routes throughout the week.
