Pasco County Deputies Shut Down Planned Wesley Chapel ‘Teen Takeover’

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Pasco Sheriff’s Office deputies swarmed the Wesley Chapel area on Monday night, June 1, effectively shutting down a rumored “teen takeover” event before any chaos could unfold.

Authorities first caught wind of the situation earlier that day after receiving multiple reports that a large group of juveniles planned to gather in the area around 10 p.m. As a precautionary measure, the sheriff’s office immediately flooded the neighborhood with extra units to monitor the situation and keep the peace.

As the night progressed, several teenagers did show up at various spots across Wesley Chapel. However, waiting deputies quickly intercepted the groups and told them to disperse. The juveniles left the area without incident. The sheriff’s office confirmed that no arrests were made, and no threats to public safety ever developed.

While the night ended quietly, law enforcement made it clear they aren’t taking these types of social media-driven gatherings lightly.

“Pasco Sheriff’s Office did not see any significant incidents related to the ‘teen takeover’ event, [but] we want to ensure the citizens of Pasco County that PSO has zero tolerance for those who would do harm in our community, and we will hold all individuals accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” the agency said in a statement.

Officials added that they remain committed to community safety and are asking residents to stay vigilant. Anyone with information regarding future “takeover” events or similar gatherings in the area is urged to call the Pasco Sheriff’s Crime Tips Line at 1-800-706-2488 or submit a tip online at pascosheriff.com/tips.
