The 2026 hurricane season has officially started, prompting Pasco County Emergency Management to urge residents to begin their storm preparations immediately. Local emergency officials emphasized that taking early action helps protect families, pets, and property well before any severe weather threatens the area.
To aid in these efforts, the county released its fully redesigned, expanded, and interactive 2026 Disaster Preparedness Guide. The updated resource contains essential planning materials, including evacuation zone maps, emergency shelter information, supply checklists, flood safety guidance, and resources for post-storm recovery.
“Preparation is the most important step you can take,” said Emergency Management Director Andrew Fossa. “Our Disaster Guide provides clear, practical information to help every Pasco customer be ready before a storm threatens.”
County officials are advising residents to act immediately by downloading the guide, which is available online in both English and Spanish at MyPasco.net.
Additionally, community members are encouraged to sign up for Alert Pasco, a notification system that delivers real-time updates regarding severe weather, evacuation orders, and other emergency alerts directly to mobile phones or email inboxes.
