PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – With extremely cold air continuing to impact the region, Pasco County officials are opening emergency cold weather shelters to assist residents without adequate heating or housing.

Beginning Sunday, January 18, and continuing through Tuesday, January 20, 2026, the county will activate shelters on both the east and west sides of the county. The facilities will open their doors each evening at 6 p.m. and remain open until 10 a.m. the following morning.

County officials emphasize that the expected temperatures pose a safety risk to anyone remaining outdoors for extended periods. Residents are urged to take precautions to protect children, the elderly, and pets, as they are particularly vulnerable to the extreme conditions.
