PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Thousands of Pasco County residents and businesses might be sitting on money they don’t even know exists. The Pasco Clerk & Comptroller’s Office announced that it is currently holding more than $290,000 in unclaimed funds.
The money comes from checks issued by either the Clerk’s Office or the Pasco County government that were never cashed or ended up returned.
According to the Clerk’s Financial Services Department, the exact pool of cash includes $82,865.09 in Clerk’s Office funds and $207,328.85 in County funds. The individual amounts vary widely; some people are owed just a few bucks, while others are owed hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
The annual list of names and the complete roster are available on the Clerk & Comptroller’s website. Anyone whose name or business is on the list has a firm deadline of September 1, 2026, to submit the required paperwork to collect their money.
Detailed instructions and the necessary claim forms are available online through the Clerk & Comptroller’s portal.
Clerk & Comptroller Nikki Alvarez-Sowles, Esq., is pushing locals to take a quick look at the publication. “This money belongs to the people and businesses on this list, and we want to make sure they know how to claim it,” Alvarez-Sowles said. “Some checks are for just a few dollars, while others are for much more. It only takes a few minutes to search the list, and our Office has provided clear instructions to help guide customers through the process.”
The Clerk & Comptroller’s Office releases this list every year, stating that the practice is part of their broader commitment to transparency, accountability, and ensuring public funds actually get back to their rightful owners.
