PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is actively monitoring the progression of Hurricane Helene, with Pasco County currently under a Hurricane Warning.

Alongside the latest updates from the National Hurricane Center, the Sheriff’s Office is providing critical information about shelter and sandbag locations to help residents prepare.

Shelters are Opening Their Doors

Starting today, Wednesday, September 25th, at 4 p.m., several shelters will be available for those needing a safe haven: Centennial Middle School in Dade City, Fivay High School in Hudson, Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel (catering to both special needs and the general population), River Ridge Middle and High Schools in New Port Richey, and Sunlake High School in Land O’ Lakes.

Specialized Shelter for Special Needs

Additionally, a dedicated Special Needs shelter will open earlier today, at 9 a.m., at the Fasano Regional Hurricane Center in Hudson.

Sandbags Available for Flood Protection

Several locations throughout the county are providing sandbags for residents to protect their property from potential flooding. These include Magnolia Valley Golf Course (open 24/7) in New Port Richey, Pasco County Public Works C-Barn (also open 24/7) in San Antonio, Veterans Memorial Park (open sunrise to sunset) in Hudson, Fire Station-29 (open sunrise to sunset) in Zephryhills, Heritage Park (open sunrise to sunset) in Land O’ Lakes, the former Dade City Police Department building (open sunrise to sunset), and the Holiday Site.
